High Idle after normal Idle for 5-10 min.

So the other morning (36 degrees) I go out to warm up my truck pn the way to the duck blind and encounter something that has not happened to me. Truck starts fine and Idles normal. I go back into my duck trailer and 5 min later I hear my truck IDLE up and stay there. I get in the truck and tap the pedal and it goes back to normal. 5 min later it happens again. Any Idea why or what it is? Never has happened in the past?

completly normal mine does it all the time, if it really cold it will just go right to the 1000 rpm mark until you hit the brake pedal, it will do that until the truck warms up

Yeah, if it gets to a certain ambient temp (32*) the truck will automatically idle the truck up to 1000rpm to help warm the engine and accessories up quicker. hit the brake and it will idle down, but after a minute if its temp is too cold it will do it agan as necessary. I love it because I can get out and here the turbo sing in the stacks, such a beautiful sound!

Mine will do that on very cold days even after it has been driven a while.I drive 10 miles to shop and go in to get tools and such, and I will hear it idle up outside. Has done it since new.

no the five min thing is normal for 32* weather under i think 20 it kicks on immediatley, but 20 to 32 it takes like 2-3 minutes to kick on, i don't have a smarty and mine does it all the time. you guys and your smartys, now if only they could listen to wife while she's ranting, so i don't have to, I would buy one in a heart beat.

It'd be cool if you could use your smarties to mute your wives?
