High idle for a 1st gen

Just was curious what people have came up with for a high idle type device on these trucks. I get tired of using a broom stick on the throttle pedal. or my .25-06 works good too. Throw out some ideas please i need some! haha
thanks

My truck and my dads 90 both have cables that hook in down by the accelerator pedal to idle it up. It looks like a factory deal to me. It works really well.

mine has the same cable. haven't tried using it while the engine's running but have pulled it a couple of times while working under the dash to see if it functions ok. mine doesn't seem to move the pedal very much and i seem to have to pull pretty hard to make it move. probably just needs some lubrication. i'll give it a try tomorrow morning before heading to work.

in my owners manual for the high idle you have to depress the throttle pedel then pull on the handle of the high idle lock and lock it then let off the throttle.

that makes sense. maybe there's not enough leverage from the linkage to move the pedal itself. i tried it this morning but it didn't do anything. i'll give it a try when i leave work today.

Broom sticks work great, those high-idle locks never work on any truck i use... guess they had too many years of abuse.

Yep, that's exactly what you have to do otherwise it won't move the pedal on its own.

I've been known to use the "50 cent" high idle.

Stick two quarters between the throttle lever and the idle screw.
