High EGTs with new turbo
The truck has a 215 pump and no plate , everything else is stock except for exhaust / intake. With my stock turbo the temps climbed to around 1200* and it wasnt too bad i could still pull with it and keep it reasonable. Now I got a HTT stage 3 HX-35, and normal driving the temps are lower but if i get on it at all my temps climb to 1400-1500* very quickly. Do I have enough fuel to push it? What is the problem with it?
Thanks
Kroner
Ps it has a 14cm w/g housing

What kind of boost with stock turbo? Was there more smoke before? If you are now getting more boost...maybe your also getting more HP (burning more fuel)....and therefore more EGT's.
If you changed nothing else but the turbo....I would still expect lower EGT's. Have you discussed with Paul at HTT?

Boost seems a little low. My stage 3 is regulated to 44-45 psi but I'm running a 12 housing. If you have an adjustable elbow, screw it in a bit and bump up the boost to the upper 30's to start.

Boost with the stock turbo was 40lbs. I checked again after work and 30lbs is where it is set at. Smoke is less at higher rpms but mostly the same in the lower range. Where is the elbow to adjust boost?
Thanks for the help

No, no. Not along the main air pipes. Look for a small line going to the wastegate. You should see an elbow along the way.
edit : don't confuse it with the oil feed line.

There is an elbow below the intake on the compressor side and it is connected to a little blue hose that goes to the wastegate but there is no set screw in it. How do I raise the pressure if there is no set screw? The guy who pulled my plate out adjusted the screw on the back of the afc housing which raised my pressure the first time. Wish I would have paid more attention.

Lower boost would acct for higher EGT's. Just disable the wastegate completely for now.
Should not be more than the 40 psi you had before and thats not too much for new turbo!

The brass elbow is on the front of the compressor housing and has a tube that goes from there back to the wastegate. You need an adjustable elbow which is your regualr elbow with a setscrew in it. You screw the set screw in to raise the boost as it effectively restricts the air pressure to the wastegate. Look in the classifieds here & on the TDR. Should be maybe $20.00
As for the plate - there has been a longstanding debate about running plateless. Most believe you can damage the pump if a pin breaks without the plate in it. If you do decide to put one in, I'd go with a #10.
