High beam indicator won't go out

My high beam indicator light won't go out when switching to low beams or when truck is shut off and light switch turned off. Just started today just because i am on the road. I checked relays , four light system.

Do you still have the DRL box in there? That would be my first guess.

I think DRL means daytime running lights, I would like to know where that box would be located, because my high beam indicator is on all the time when my headlight switch is on, I replaced the multi function switch, and the switch on the dash, still on, also my light seem to be a half power

I am gonna rewire them soon and relay them if I cant figure it out

Are your headlights switching back to low beam or are they staying on high?

When I did my sport headlights when switching back to low the high beams would stay on but like under half power. This only happened on mine when the foglights were on becouse the lights were grounding out through the foglights and keeping them from shutting off.

The DRL box is under the hood on the drivers side, right in the corner where the fender meets the firewall and can be "temperamental"

Headlights switch from low to high, but indicator stays on. Tonight when i shut truck off, right headlight stayed on until i pulled one relay out. I am thinking my relays are sticking.

thats exactly what happens when the DRL module goes out. unplug the module all is good. exept you won't have the highbeam indicator when your highs are actually on.

dont pull the relay, unplug the module. Like was said its on the driverside inner fender, sort of under the master cylinder. unplug it and Let 'er buck. a new module is too much money.

Sorry for the confusion.

I pulled the module plug on mine. With the older trucks you can just add a jumper to get the indicator to work from the high beam relay signal to the red/grey wire to the indicator. On the newer units of about 99 and up, they use an LED in the indicator and the DRL box grounds it instead, so the jumper won't work.

Either way, you need to pull the plug on that box and it sounds like a ground is missing somewhere along the line with the new harness.

I had a similar thing happen to my truck. The DRL (Daytime running Light) little electronic box failed and then my lights were ON all the time... even when the key was out of the ignition! I ended up running with no little black box for a few weeks, but the high beam indicator light would be ON all the time when I would manually turn on the headlights at night. I ended up getting a new DRL box from the wrecker.

Be careful trying the little electrical jumper technique, I think I used the wrong wires when I tried this and I crisp-ed one wire and now my parking brake indicator light is on all the time!

I had the same issue. DRL box. You can unplug it and the high beam light will stay on OR replace it.
