I've noticed that when I'm driving along at night with my headlights on and switch them to high beams, frequently the lights go completely out as soon as I release the lever. I can gently pull on the switch and they will come back on, but it's really discomforting when all of a sudden everything is black in front of me. It doesn't do it all the time, but when it does it really gets your attention. Any ideas?

My lights where doing that. I also experienced an electrical burning smell. It turned out to be the light switch was burning up. Had to replace it. Could have caused a fire if i wouldnt have gotten to it soon enough.

Replace the multifunction switch.

Wayne, I had my headlight switch off last week and one of the contacts was bent down and away from the plug so it wasn't making contact. I guess it happened when it was built as I never had it off before. I am kinda wondering now what the heck I was missing that I never noticed before ;D

Better get that switch out of there before it quits altogether one night.

If it were a headlamp switch issue, the problem would be present with both high and low beams. Your problem is in the multifunction switch.

Thank y'all boucoups (I try to practice my Southern French). I'll find out how much one is and put it in. Shouldn't be too hard.

The same thing was happining to my BLUE. when i took it in to the dealer to look at it, they told me when I ajusted the steering wheel to a different positon it was pulling the wires out of the harness. It appears that the holding tabs that snap into place located at the end of the wires had broken off. Sooo.. instead of a new harness we broke out the bottle of "Super Glue"... It worked great.. [laugh]

Tommy

Mine was doing the same thing. I got a new multifunction switch from the dealer for $58. Installed it in about 10 min. Three torx screws in the cover under the steering wheel and three or four hold the switch on. It's that easy.
