Hey FiverBob, a question.

Saw your pic on the exhaust tip thread. It that an "over the rail" line X job, or do you have bed rail caps? If caps, what brand and how is the fit?

TIA

Re:Hey FiverBob, a question.

Nevada,

I have LineX, but not over the rails. They are plastic caps. I did not want the rough LineX texture up on the top of the rails. Brand - - you got me, baby. I bought them at the local Hitch House. Fit great, but they did not do a good installation. I have since had to get new tape and redo them. I think I had too much wax on the rails and they did not prep them right. The dealer has a nice set of rail caps - - they still did not have them available for the new 03's when I got my truck, so I went elsewhere. The dealers price was about the same I paid aftermarket. I felt the caps gave a little more finished look than the LineX would. If I were using my truck for rough work, I would go with the LineX - - it will hold up better than the plastic.

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

I have the Rhino over the rails and it looks OK. Even my picky wife said it looks OK so therefore it must not look that bad.

Re:Hey FiverBob, a question.

I've had LineX over the rails on my last 2 trucks.
Not on the next one. Sorry to say this but it loses its color and fades real bad after about 24 months, thats even with cleaning it and detailing often.
I ordered a BLACK truck with the MOPAR bedliner and will get rail caps if they fit with the MOPAR bed cover.
Just my experience.

Re:Hey FiverBob, a question.

Scotty,
My LineX is black - - no fade, but it is not shiny anymore. I have not coated it or anything. I do not put a lot of nasties in the bed, so it still looks new except for the dullness. I was told it would do that by the installer - - that was one reason for the plastic rails. I think there is something you can spray on the LineX to get some shiny back.

Saw a new black dually yesterday - - just rolled off the truck. Had the gold paint on the bottom - - gorgeous. It was the Texas Ranch edition. The leather looks great, except the color - - looks like someone got really sick and upchucked. Horrible color, but great leather. It was a Laramie with chrome brush guard, etc etc etc. It was standing tall - - nice.
