Here's a Strange one
Hey guys,
This one comes from a friend of a friend kinda. It seems that he has a 04 that when you put it in gear the truck wants to add fuel and it keep adding fuel untill you put the truck back into neutral. When you put it on a scanner and you look at engine data /calculated load data you can actually watch the load increase and increase untill you can barely hold it back with the breaks. It feels just like your power breaking it. All this without touching the foot feed. It feels like the torque converter is looked but I'm sure that it's not. Driving the truck on the road it feels perfect. In park or neutral it will free rev and come back to and will idle but when it's in gear it just sit there and add fuel untill you put it back into neutral then the engine will rev untill it burns off the fuel and then it will settle down and idle smoothly again. It has some Bullydog extreme or something like that but it does it the same with or without the programmer.
So what do you guys make of this???
Thanks,
Topper

It sounds like an APPS problem. Program it back to stock and disconnect the batteries for a 30 min. Hook batteries back up and turn ignition switch to on and mash the go pedal 3 times smoothly all the way to the floor. If you had a scan tool I beat you would see some funky readings while the truck is in gear.

Thanls guys,
Checkmate, the truck drives great.
Spooler, that is what I was thinking.
Cbrahs, that's kinda what we thought at first but the converter seems to be working fine while we are driving the truck. Is it possible that it is particaly locking up? How would I test this?
Thanks!

This happened to a buddy of mine. Hes also got an 04, and this is exactly like what his did, and it was his torque converter. It drove fine when he let it go, but sitting at a stop light, it would just sit there trying to go like he was power braking it, just pooring out black smoke, and he'd let off the brakes, and itd even chirp the tires a little
