HELP... truck has ulcer

doing some inspections today and on the third inspection i noticed a lot of oil on the front tire fender well. popped the hood and found the truck was puking blood out of the dipstick??? what could have caused this excess in crankcase pressure?? i have the puke bottle relocated to the frame by the transfere case. could it be too long of a run to let the pressure out?? i have the tubing stuffed in a Lucas fuel additive bottle with some small slits in the bottle to let vapor escape. could it be a symptom of the head gasket??? so far it only did it once. i notice that the dipstick was pushed out a little and not seated all the way in. i've been checking it and it hasn't moved very much so far. the banks high ram has the dipstick tube bowed/torqued a little bit and it's hard to get in and out but i dont' think it's enough to let it vibrate out????? totally baffled?? oh yea been running the rotella synthetic to go the extra miles between oil changes while on the road. so far i've noticed a small leak around the oil pan as a result of switching. i filled it up a few days ago but don't think i overfilled it?? could this have caused the puking ??? after i noticed the puke i checked it and it was about 2 quarts low.

I agree with Thumper..............pull the pill bottle on the end of the breather hose and throw it away.................extend hose down a bit further and use a zip tie to hold it down.

i routed the hose all teh way down, around, and weaved it to the frame rail . there's a hole in the frame rail where it's boxed and i ran the hose into that with a lucas fuel additive bottle. i used the braided/clear nylon type hose from home depot. that hose is pretty stiff so i don't believe it's kinked anywhere. even if it was, would it be enough to puke about a quart or two??? there was a big mess under the hood and it even came out from under the hood and down the d.s. fender. i checked it while ago and it's right at/below the fill line on the dipstick. filled it to halfway between the two lines and will check tomorrow to see if anything else happens. ??

thanks for the reply guys.

some hoses will swell up on the inside if made of wrong material.

Why don't you do it the right way...
  • Will not kink shut, swell shut, freeze shut, etc.
  • Doesn't drip oil as far as I've noticed.
  • Works for off-roading too. Allows the truck to travel steep hills now without spilling oil.
  • No maintenance.
  • Easily removed to do engine work.
  • Don't smell oil vapors in the cab.
  • DC approved my vent!

Just make sure you use a therad coupling on your down tube so you can remove it. I made the mistake of hose clamping my first one... The second one will not have a slip - slip elbow with a hose clamp. Opps... If you glue that elbow in you won't be able to remove the vent from the engine...
