help truck died in the middle of road

My truck died while sitting at a red light. This morning when I started the truck it idled like it wanted to die or had air in the lines, but then it ran fine. I just installed a raptor 100 pump to protect my vp44, but now it looks like its shot. After it died at the red light it would just crank, but not start and I get code p1693. I pulled the fuel filter off, and I'm getting fuel to the filter, but no fire. Also it looks like I'm losing fuel at the tank from the quickdisconnect. Any help please!!!!

You may have a fuel/air leak in connections at fuel tank sending unit. Result in loss of prime. You might also check LP fuel pressure.

Is it possible I cracked the plastic piece that the fuel lines connect to/over? Has anyone had to replace that piece? Even a small leak will make it not run?

Dunno about a small leak, but I just went through this with a 99 (larger leak).

Also, Before you change the IP, try bleeding the injectors, if you don't get fuel to bleed, try running it on flammable brake cleaner or WD40 for a few seconds, I just saved what appeared to be a dead IP that way.

After working for about 4 hours on the truck (trying to bleed the fuel system at all points including at the raptor, the filter canister, the vp44 banjo bolt, and #4 and #5 injectors) I got it started and let it idle for 15 min and it didn't hesitate once, ran like new. After that I decided to take it for a test drive around the block I made it half a mile with wot before it died and now I'm back in the same position it will not start!!! Does anyone know what this could be? Why would it idle so nice and then after I get on it, it dies? Has anyone ever had this happen? After it died again I got code p1693. If anyone can help that would be great. Thanks

That's just my luck, I guess I'm the only one that's had this happen. Has anyone that installed a raptor 100 had pressure problems, or had a faulty quick disconnect? I just want my truck to run again.

running ? idle? WOT?
bleding the system? where you bump the starter but don't start?

do you have fuel leaks? air leaks?

I don't have a fuel pressure guage. I noticed the under side of my fuel tank is wet, but I can't see where it's coming from. When the truck was idling I didn't see any leaks, but it didn't shut off until I got on it. Another thing I don't understand is that the truck ran great all weekend because I installed it on friday, and no problems until this morning. I didn't have one problem with my truck before putting this raptor on.

Bet you the sender unit tubes are rotting off to the point it will not draw fuel.

You can feel up by the top of the tank and tell about how rotten the tubes are, in the case of the 99 I just worked on, I knew what it was as soon as I felt it.

If that is the case, Vulcan draw straw works nice.

I don't think it's the sender unit tubes as I didn't have any problems until I installed the raptor. My problem has to do something with the raptor. Should I plug the old lp back in to see if it gets the truck going? The only problem with that is I lost the bolt the goes into the back of the filter housing.

When you say you are getting fuel to the filter, i assumed you meant that it was under pressure. I always crack the banjo bolt at the IP and have someone bump the starter to run the LP, if it is working correctly, you will know it in short order.

The reason I suspect the lines is because you said you had fuel dripping down the tank, that is a classic sign of rusty lines, and a loss of prime.

During the install of the raptor, you might have pulled the lines enough to finalize the break.

My best guess anyway.

Well today I hooked the original lift pump and fuel lines back up. After getting all the air out she finally started. I didn't drive it as it was raining a lot and I didn't want to break down at night when it's raining. What I did do was rev the engine like I was driving all the way to 2700 rpm for atleast 10 mins and it ran perfect. I shut it off and on a few times and it cranks up immediately. I'm almost positive the problem lies within the raptor, any thoughts?

Sounds like the Raptor died, I don't know much about the aftermarket pumps, I put the stock ones back on the block.....

You do need to find out why your tank is wet though.
