Do a search for "band adjust" or "adjusting bands" and you'll get all the specifics you need.
It is something you can do in your driveway.
You will need an INCH pound torque wrench, a torx bit (not sure which size) for one of the bands, a 1/4" socket for the other band, 2 other sockets for the lock nuts, and one socket for the pan bolts.

Front band adjust: 40torx, 3/4 box end wrench. I like to put a little teflon sealer on inside edge of lock nut to prevent seepage of fluid up threads.
Reverse band: 1/4" socket, 9/16 deep offset box end wrench.
specs: front band, 72 in.lb., back off two turns
reverse band: 72 in.lb., back off 3 turns.
Check fluid before doing anything else, and check in NEUTRAL.
