Help: I think its an electrical problem...

Good Day Ladies and Gentleman...

About 6 weeks ago my check engine light came on out of the blue, and along side it, my check gauges light flashes intermittently, sometimes multiple times per minute, sometimes more or less. The funny thing is every time the check gauges light comes on, the tach and speedo start to flutter, sometimes to the point of cutting the engine off and restarting it.

Thus far the dealership has failed to diagnose the problem, but have gotten closer. The code that keeps coming up is u0001 - communication error between the ecm. The seem to have traced it back to the ABS module plug, but everytime they seem to fix it, it maybe lasts for a few days then comes back...

Yesterday i got in my truck and it was dinging and flashing repeatedly for about 15 minutes then it quieted down. This was after the truck sat outside in a snow storm and was probably damp under the hood. I worked the truck for about 10 straight hours without a single noise, but the check engine light remains on.

Can anybody help? I think it might be a bad cam position sensor or thereabouts?

really ready to blow the truck up now...

by the way, its a 2007 5.9L mega cab DRW Auto.

Thank you all in advance.

Cheers.

Oren

Since you have the MIL and Gauge check both on at times and you have a comm error code. I'm betting there's a loose connection in the Can-Bus line. Probably due to corrosion. It's going to be hard to find since it's intermittent but I doubt the ABS module plug has anything to do with it. Most likely the comm line between the ECM and Cluster controller.
