Replaced the power steering pump the other day...went OK, didn't have any issues with it. However, since then my rig hasn't had the kick in the rump (posted about that earlier) with no smoke. Over the last 2 days my rig has sucked down about 6 quarts of oil!!!!

Had to powerwash the engine and started her up clean.....and had oil pouring out of a fitting in the block!!!!

anyone know what the sensor is that is above the power steering pump? I seem to have broken it when I pulled the power steering pump off and didn't find it till I pressurewashed everything.

Looks like you removed the oil pressure sending unit the easy way. Should be an easy fix, though. Just install a new one and reattach the connector shown in the 2nd pic. Those things get a bit flaky after awhile anyway.

Looks like you found the problem, but I have a question. Where did the 6 qts of oil go that you did not notice the puddles of oil?

If you can't scare one up immediately, an 1/8" pipe plug will get you back on the road.

Excellent!!! Thanks again guys... btw..all of the oil was being blown over to the inner fender skirt and then followed the frame to the back...none was dripping under the front...so never noticed it.

The pipe plug worked just fine as there was nothing open today and the nearest place is over 24 miles away.

Those sending units for the factory gauge might as well be pipe plugs for as accurate as they are. When I bought my truck and drove it home, I stopped to fuel uip about 15 miles from the fellas house--just long enough to warm it up. Oil light came on at 850rpm idle and I thought great, I bought a wore out engine. I replaced the sender and the gauge went up one hash mark and no more light at hot idle....for a month or so, then back to the same thing. The present sender is working well, but just for the hey of it, I plumbed a mechanical gauge into the very same port for a day. Pegged a 100psi gauge when cold and idled about 40psi when hot.
