Angry Help!! Rear Main Seal Leak

I had a rear main seal with wear sleeve installed back in June of 2011 and it's now leaking again. The work was warranted for 6 months. The warranty ended on Dec 17 2011. The repair shop won't fix the problem. I had the truck in when I spotted the oil a week before thanksgiving to let them inspect the leak. They washed the underside of the engine/transmission and told me to bring it back after I spotted the oil again. Well, the oil is back seeping down, but they denied the warranty. You would think and hope being only 2 weeks after the warranty expired that they would honor the repair out of good business.

Anyway, I usually do all the work myself on my trucks that I run except when I need special costly tools. My question is, should I raise hell till they fix it? Also, if anyone knows of someone that I could rent a stall with a lift from daily, I will repair the seal myself and breakdown and buy the 250.00 seal installer. Thanks guys!

Check with your local auto parts stores. They may have the tool for rent. Usually you pay a deposit then get it all back when you return it, so in the end, it cost nothing. I usually won't let anyone touch my vehicles, unless putting on new tires or some warranty work by a dealer on the wife's car. I would talk to the shop again. maybe the manager or owner A good shop that wants your business will honor that. if not, they may not be a good shop.

Let's see here, you brought the truck into them a week before Thanksgiving, they knew about this issue a good three weeks before your warranty would expire. I would ask them again to honor it and if they refuse, of course me being me, I would mention my next course of action. I would talk to an attorney or file in small claims court, file with the BBB, Yelp, attorney general and anyone else I could think of, maybe start a web site...I hope you have the paperwork for that visit before thanksgiving...

^^^ what he said, I would raise a heck personally, but be nice about it to start out.

Secondly, unless there is something really different about 3rd gens from 2nd gens you only need a hammer and a block of wood to install the seal.

Also I would make sure it is truly the rear main leaking. I though mine was leaking and had plan to do it when I had the transmission out for the clutch. Come to find out it is leaking from somewhere else and it just appears to the rear main.
