help..Oil leaking at Exhaust Manifold/Head

read sig for truck year and all that..I kept thinking MAYBE the whitish-blue smoke belching out the exhaust was the biodiesel i was running..but found an oil leak only at exhaust port #1 in-between the head and exhaust manifold right where the gasket is..that area is seaping pretty good..i guess maybe it's getting burnt up in there causing the white smoke..BUT..what is it from?

its not possibly your front valve cover is it?
or is it leaking into your exhaust too causing smoke there?

Nope..it's coming from in-between the exh. manifold and head right at the gasket..i am leaning towards the valve stem seals in there...it's only at #1 port.

it's not from your exhaust seals. they are under a pressure, unlike gassers where they are under a vacuum. when the exhaust pressure, and intake pressure are greater than the engine crankcase pressure, you won't know when your valve guide seals are leaking. it is more than likely you have an oil leak on your #1 valve cover, and it is just coking up on the exhaust manifold. I would say that most likely your turbocharger is getting worn out. check the shaft side play by taking off your intake hose, and wobbling it back and forth and up and down. Any movement more than a few thousandths is excessive. if your bearings are going out, your seals can leak oil into either the exhaust turbine housing or compressor housing.

It is probably fuel not oil usually caused by a misfire on that cylinder.

It's oil..and it's only coming from #1..and not valve cover gaskets, just changed those..a TDR member had the same trouble as I have and changed out those valve seals and no more oil leak.

white smoke is fuel or water, blue is oil.

Does the truck run a little rough at idle? If that cylinder was firing correctly and was getting oil in it, it should burn the oil, the oil leaving the cylinder as smoke not a liquid. Do you have a spare injector if so change the injector on that cyl and see if it quits. Also check your valves and maybe one is to tight causeing a loss of compression.

Engine runs fine with 375k on it, if there's any roughness, it's from the P-7100's governor being worn down a little from the mileage, all 12 valves have a vibration to them..mine isn't bad. And yes, the smoke IS more blue than white..trust me i know it's oil...just need to pinpoint if the stem seals need replacing..i'm sure it's a fair chance they do..
