HELP! I Need to Change My Fuel Filter

I have a 98 12 valve and I don't know how to change the fuel filter. I had a 93 and that one was easy.

Can someone please give me step by step instructions on changing my fuel filter.

Thank You

The 98 is pretty easy to change. Follow the instructions at Geno's. Then use the broomstick to prime the new filter and go...

Those directions are good, however, on my 98 I find it easier to remove the whole filter housing before opening it to change the filter. You need a 10 deep socket for the bolts that hold it to the manifold, a 10 and 17 for the banjo fittings on top. Keep track of the copper sealing washers. And, when it's out, you have good access to the fuel heater/ prefilter so you can clean that screen also. The first time I replaced the filter I did it through the bottom as the linked instructions suggest, and it was a pain. Removing the housing is a bit more work, but easier, especially if you have big hands.

Well, I changed it out and I am glad I did. Who ever had the truck before I got it probably did not change it in a while. It was looking pretty bad, goey, not nice.

thanks again for your help
