help my truck wont run right
ok i have a problem i just put a 0 plate and 3k gov springs on a 12 valve and it didn't make a bit of difference the thing doesn't smoke any more than it did before i put it on and its a zero plate it should have changed the smoke output and the power output but it didn't make a bit of deference so we thought it wasn't getting enough fuel to begin with and we had a new lift pump sittin on the shelf so we changed that and that didn't help so we thought the fuel pressure regulator might be bad that is on the side of the p-pump so we closed off the return line still no difference i don't know what to do im all out of ideas has anyone else ever had this happen to them or have any ideas about what could cause this problem any help would be appreciated thanks

i was thinking it could be the filter in the tank but i didn't have a vacuum gauge to hook in the line between the pump and the tank to see if it had too much vacuum witch would point to a dirty filter in the tank and the afc housing in the full forward position and the star wheel is adjusted as far as it can go toward more smoke im thinking about just taking the plate out completely just to make sure there is no problem with it and if that doesn't make a difference i will prolly pull the tank and see if i have a restriction

You can always blow air backwards to the tank to see if there is any restriction, easier than dropping the tank.
Remember to remover the fuel cap first.
Even better, install a fuel pressure gauge, still easier than dropping the tank.

i put in my 3kgsk and took it for a rip, and it plain sucked. ran like stock it felt. then my fuel plate went missing.....so much power! so turns out you need fuel to turn the higher rpms....lots of it. i cant say my truck smokes lots without a plate-has a decent haze and 1250 degrees after a empty drag race on flat, but not the smoke ppl were raving about. so with ur 0 plate you might not get a ton of smoke (unless u pin it below 1000 rpm ) but u should notice the power. if not id say ur not getting fuel. suggest looking at fuel delivery (tank prefilter and main filter) or timing? not sure what else....if ur getting fuel ull b getting power. what r your egts like on a long run?

well the problem was the plate i took it out and the thing runs like a raped ape so i will be sending that back so thanks to everyone for all the advice. does anyone know the consequences of running it without the plate in the pump what are the chances of that hurting something?

Ahhh another case of the missing plate lol. Iv run plateless for a few months now and luv it. Dont worry about the pump-itll b just fine. Worry about things like clutch/tranny, drivetrain, and egts.
