HELP in the middle of timing pump

I want to bump the timing to 16.5, but I am getting conflicting info on what it should be. One place I read 6.5mm, another said 4.9mm will bring me to 16.5. I am currently at 5.7, which I am assuming is around 12.5. please help as I would like to finish this. THANKS

You need to go by the cpl number on your engine. The pumps are different on some engines so the amount of lift will be different depending on the pump. Go to piers diesel research web site. Then go to technical and you will find a P7100 timing chart that lists the cpl # and the corasponding lift needed to get the timing you want. I think this will get you there. www.piersdiesel.com/TechPTiming.htm They end it a 16 deg. just add .1mm to the 16deg.number and you will have 16.5 deg.

if your truck is a 5 spd like mine 5.7 should be 16.5*
if its a 180 pump 5mm is 16.5*
if its a 160,175 pump 6.5 mm is 16.5* (unless its a cali truck cpl 1863-1968 then it would be 5mm)
