help me out

does anyone know what goes in this plug under the dash of my '00. if no one does, could someone look under their dash and just let me know where the harness is coming from. any help would be great. if you look under the dash its in between the brake and emergency brake pedals. the big harness in the middle of the picture has a white cap with a bolt through it. i just cant find the harness that plugs into the blue reciever circled. i could just be an idiot and this is the plug for the obd2 sensor but i think i remember unplugging something from this, but all you guys are awesom with these trucks and i'm sure someone will know exactly what it is as soon as you look at it. thanks again for all the help.

Trailer brake harness? If you don't have a brake box, it will remain empty.

you have a question mark after trailer brake harness. is that an iffy statement or are you sure. i just need to before i put my dash back together. i dont want something to not work or find out later that theres some plug stuffed up under the dash that i need to plug in there. if someone could look at their truck and lemme know if theres something in there that would be good. you might have to take off the knee stopper but its only a few screws and it would really help me out.

If you don't have a trailer brake controller, if you don't tow, it will be empty. Its there to make it easer to add a controller if your truck came with the tow package option.

ok so i was reading some things and i have a factory 7 way connector at the back of my truck for a trailer, and i am just about positive i took the blue plug out of the dash. you can see it if you google image dodge brake control, its the first pic that comes up and you can see the factory installed plug. i just need to know what direction its coming from so i can find and get my truck back together.

If you do not have an electronic brake controller bolted to the dash somewhere ( most common place is to the left or right of the steering wheel down by your knees ) then it is not used. A brake controller is typically a black box that is about 4 inches wide/ 6 inches long/ and 2 inches thick and has a led on it that would be visible to the driver. Even if you do have one, the truck will operate just fine without that plugged in. It is strictly for the trailer brakes.....nothing else.

ok. now that i know that i don't need it i can put the truck together once i find where the little black vacuum line from the heater core/evaporator box goes. but since i'm so picky, its gonna annoy me that that harness disapeared, so if anyone knows where it comes from lemme know just so i can put it in cause its gonna bother me.

Coming out of the heater/ac box, it goes thru the firewall with the heater core ( IIRC ) and hooks to a vacuum line just below the wiper cowling. Should be a large wiring harness there too.

If you didn't have an aftermarket brake controller there wasn't anything in that receptacle.
