Help me find a good place to install my ANVIL train horns
Just go the bad boy along with a pretty big 3L air compressor, however, dont really have a good place to put them. Trying to put the horns and air compressor somewhere under the truck and not the air compressor in the bed.

I am looking forward to this thread.. I want train horns mounted on my truck so bad. I hope someone has a way to mount them pointed down so they shake the ground.

If they'll fit, I'd mount them just outside of the frame on the passenger side in the space between the frame and body, just behind the cab (bed area) bolted at a 45° angle so that the sound will travel forward and downwards towards the front of the truck but still keep the horns out of harm's way.

I was hoping to find a way to have them more towards the front of the truck, yet hidden. But then I never looked to see what kind of room there is behind the grille/bumper for them.

Here are my plans. It looks like your truck is lifted as well so the stock spare tire is useless. I removed my spare and going to fab a plate that is raised and lowered by the spare tire winch. This plate will be the base for the train horns and the air tanks. I want to mount the compressor somewhere that will be somewhat protected from the elements. Also, mount the horns with them facing to the rear. Had a 5 trumpet set on my Pete and if they were mounted forward, they would catch bugs and dirt and then plug the air flow and they sounds like crap and had to take them appart to clean them out. After mounting them facing to the rear, I never had another problem.

Unsolicited opinion!
If you install those things..... use them ONLY ONCE in any given setting!
Sorry, but for those having to listen to them - First time is cool...second time is irritating.... third time is downright obnoxious!

I really want a set, but would like a milder set-up. I want loud, but not deafening.

So I'd suppose you wouldn't want me using these over and over at Charlie's sometime? I figured they'd make the perfect alarm clock when we have to leave early for something.

Use the "search this forum" type in "air horn" "air horns" or "train horns" there are a couple good threads with pictures or where a few guys have mounted everything.
If you get a different intake (something smaller than the BHAF) you may be able to mount them under the hood.

There was a Power Stroke that has a set at the Alvarado, Tx Event in July. Every time he took off to do a sled pull he would blow those things 3 or 4 times. Very, very, very irritating when your 50' in front of them!
