Help Me Choose A Turbo And Fuel System
well im ready to decide on a single turbo and a fuel system to meet my needs and future plans which include 550 hp range, quick spool up, street/strip, and light towing (3k lbs.). i will be using everything in my sig including my smarty most likely on sw7or9 aftermarket turbo program. i will also most likely add a pressure box such as an ez or mp8.
So far for a turbo i have been planning on the htt 62/71ss or something similar, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. for the fuel supply i want to start off by keeping the stock cp3 and stix, and just adding something like the gdp walbro system, air dog100 or raptor100. again suggestions would be great. will any of those systems work w/o cutting my tank? then if necesary i will add a cp3 and stix afterwards.
thanks again for any help or suggestions, its always appreciated.

I like the Airdog, it s the most thorough kit for the money. the 62-71-13ss should suit you fine. I willl be going with the 64-71-13ss for my early 04. I have about the same goals as you, but I probably will do some sort of injectors..

With your year truck you will have to drill the tank because you have the lift pump in the tank.
You should go with the 150 airdog or raptor. The only advantage to a airdog 100 is for the 2003-2004.5 trucks that don't have the in tank lift pump. You don't have to drill the tank on those year trucks with the 100 but you do with the 150 because the pickup is too small for a 150gph pump.

i like the airdog as well, i just dont look forwrd to cutting my tank. i guess i will have to do that w/ any aftermarket fuel system huh?
i was looking at the 64/17 but htt says some customers report surging during towing or daily driving and i figure if the 62 ends up being too small i can always send it back in for an upgrade. i didnt see the 62/71/13ss on htt's website. i only saw the 62/71/14ss. what is the difference between the 13 and 14?
jerrywoodie, how does your 62/71/14 spool compared to the stock turbo?
anyone else have any other options or suggestions for me?

how does the garrett gt37r compare to the htt 62/71? its a ball bearing turbo correct? are there alot of guys using this turbo now, and how are they holding up? if its close to the same size it should spool faster being ball bearing.
i would be able to get garrett turbo's at cost from a friend. maybee i should look into it some more.
i have decided on the air dog but not sure if i should get the 100 or 150?

well both are about the same price, what would be the down side to getting the 150 and not needing the extra flow. is the install different for both?
on htt's website i am seeing the stainless housing in the 14cm and the ductile iron housing in the 13cm. does this sound right? so i guess if i want the ss housing it would have to be 14cm??

Ghost. If your aiming for 550, IMO you should build for 600-650. A truck capable of hitting 600+ will make a daily driving 550 much more efficient, with lower egt's. Few people can build a truck to thier preferences the right way, the first time. It's alot of trial and error. Most will buy expensive parts only to find they want more power, thus selling thier expensive parts at a loss only to buy that turbo that is a "little bigger". I did alot of reading and listening to others on this same turbo topic, and rode in several truck with different turbo set ups, and decided on the HTT 64/71/13 (which I will be picking up today). Take your time, and good luck with your decision.
