Help me choose an injector size...
You might or might not have been following my "IP installation woes" thread. For some reason or another, 4 of my injectors got junked by some kind of foreign debris being passed through them...
So, I'm going to go ahead and get new injectors. I was running DDP4's (5 x 13) I know I will have to go with something bigger because I could only get my turbo up to 30 psi with my original injector pump maxxed out.
I think I'm going to go with SDX injectors. I keep hearing good things.. they make quite a few different 5 hole injectors as well as custom sizing.
Anyho, here's some of my data if you want to suggest some kind of custom size I should go to.
1. 4,000 feet elevation, hills, some mountains.
2. stock 12 mm IP
3. S300 Turbo, 62/65/12, wastegated at 40 psi
4. A518 transmission, built for 400 whp maximum
5. I need to keep towing abilities (I tow light though <10,000 lbs)
6. No or very little smoke
That's about it. Thanks for looking

I'd consider something like the ddp competition injectors if you have the money and are willing to spend it. Otherwise something like some 6x14s might be nice.

I have yet to see a 1st gen with high power that didn't smoke. So far the only sticks that run clean with some power is the brand you had. 6x16's are dirty, plain and simple. If you tow your going to be very limited on the power you can use. I tow with 6x16's some but one eye needs to stay on the gauge and I am only at a 300 hp tune. It gets melty hot with in 3 seconds at full throttle. You have a much beter turbo, cooler, exhaust and cooler tubes then me so you will gain some use there. I would bet you could run 50 more horses then me at my egt temp.

Thanks Richie. Somehow I think 6 x 16's are too big for my elevation and turbo anyways. I'm thinking somewhere in the 5 x 14, or 6 x 13 range, but I dunno.

The_Head, only 30psi on your current setup? Was the pump weak?
with 4's, and same turbo, I can hit 45 with no trouble. I can tow with it no problem.
Is that TC tight?
I'd be curious to know how the SDX's do too

Well, your elevation is about 3,000 lower than mine, that might be a factor.
Maybe my pump was on the weak side, I dunno. The power screw was all the way in and it wouldn't run away. I even had one of those longer screws too.
I do know with the PDR pump they were able to hit 40 (wastegated at 40) with no problem, even making the white smoke screen that it did.

well, let me elaborate more. Even up in NorthEast AZ, where there's 6-8% grades climbing up towards 9K feet, still hit a hair over 40psi, and it just flat out pulls(charges) up the grades.
what are you gonna do with the DDP4s?

I have what you had for performance mods. I live at 4600' and with ddp4s I am able to get 32psi boost with my inj pump timed 1/8 and fuel screw down to the coller. I think with a ps cooler you lose about 3 psi due to less restriction. Just some info..

It perturbs me that you would want my truck to do something like that. I'm not really into smoke, it's something for the teenagers to do IMO. Anyways, I don't think I have the turbo for 6 x 16's. I guess I should of said I'm looking for something bigger than 5 x 13, but smaller than 6 x 16.

DDP and SDX both have very good reputations, and they both run very clean when you want them to. I think a set of 6X.012's would make good power, and still be plenty clean...
