help identify 6 speed

hello I purchased a 6 speed manual trans from a late 2003 dodge for a cummins conversion. This trans has a cast steel case not aluminum like the one in our 2004 dodge. Need help with identifying what I have . thanks

That will be an NV5600. Your 2004 had the same trans from the factory, if it has an aluminum case with the bell housing integrated then it is probably the newer G56 and it was put in after the fact. The G56 did not go into production until mid 05.

Also different between the NV 5600 and the G56 is the location of Reverse. If is it up next to 5th, it is a 5600. If it is down by 2nd, it is a G56.
