Sorry for the stupid question guys.

But how do you take off the injector hold down nut? A 24mm deep socket seems like the easiest to use, but the service manual says to use two wrenches to keep the injector body from turning in the bore while you loosen the nut. There doesn't seem to be that much room for a 24mm wrench in there. If a use a socket won't the body turn on me? So what do I use, a wrench, a socket, or some kind of crows? Thanks.

I took a set out today with a socket.

Use a tube

that will go around the edge of the injectors, and make sure its long enough to go at least 3/4 of the way up the injector, and then use a lug nut from the truck to pop em right off.. naturally you remove the retainer nut first tho... i forgot to put that the first time around

Mine were super rusty and needed a good yankin from an injector puller to get em out tho, some PB blaster should get em out tho...

So I guess everybody uses a deep socked?
What happens if the injector body turns with the nut, doesn't that ruin your head or injector?

it will score the injector bore with the locating ball in the injector body. Dont ask me how I know.

One mistake many people make removing injectors is to bend the lines out of the way. The lines are made of hardened steel, bending them causes cracks or kinks and big trouble.
Always remove the lines totally from the injector to the pump.

I just loosen the hold down nut w/ a deep socket... put a lugnut on the injector and use a prybar against the surface where the valve cover seats and pop them out... drop the new ones in, tighten the hold down nut w/ the deep socket.

How about cleaning the bore with a wire brush?
I've read some post that say clean it, otherwise the washers won't seal right, others say all of that crap will fall right into the hole, even if you use a vacuum?

just use a 24mm deep well socket to loosen the hold down nut and use penetrating oil to soak the injector. you can use vise grips on the body of the injector and use a pry bar to pry it out. if not you can use a brass drift and a hammer to loosen if it is seized. then pry it out. use an injector brush to clean the bore. always use new washers/ banjo washers. and make sure the injector shim stays on the injector.

if you stack 2 hold down nuts on top of each other then thread on a lugnut it will pop them right out. I really dont reccomend prying on them with a bar, if its stuck good you will mess up the injector where the body screws onto the tip.
