Help what do I do now?

I need some advice and quick. My delima is I just made verbal comment to dealer on the truck of my dreams. They gave me what I thought was super trade for my 04 5.9 six speed with 112k. New truck sticker 51k my truck and 25400 takes it home. The problem is the dealer let me take it home and show the wife, she loved it also. On the test drive with my wife I hit a pot hole on the Interstate at about 70. The truck started shaking violenty almost to the point of losing control. Couldn't imagine what had hapened. I thought one of the front tire blew off rim. Pulled off road to inspect couldn't see any thing wrong. Drove the rest of the way home with flashers on at 55. Don't want spend that kind of money not knowing whats wrong. Has anyone experenced this on brand new truck?

Cole

Does sound like death wobble. Have a buddy with a 2007 having the death wobble problem with only 2K miles on it. Just out of curiosity, where the tires BFGs on it. Tire pressure and normally worn front end parts usually end up with the DW....

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
You had to bend a wheel or damage the belts in tire if all is as you write.

I think the tire pressure could also be the culprit, I would check it. My buddy with the DW in his new 07 has been to the dealership multiple times without a solution. I suggested he swap the tires to see if it went away...

Did it drive OK on the way back? If so, you probably got the Death Wobble when you hit that hole. The bump got the suspension into a bad set of harmonics. Search the forum for Death Wobble.

Just got home from work.My first chance to read replys thanks. Dealer says the tire pressure was low in front and that is what caused the shake. I just don't understand how low tire pressure could cause the truck to shake so vilently. The shake reminded me of my 86 k100rs motorcycle, it would sometimes go into head shaked at 38 mph you could hardly regain control. I hate to pass on the deal but am afraid it might happen when towing my camper. It must not be a problem with all 08's or I think I would have had more responce.

Thanks
Cole

take it back out and hit that same pothole, at the same speed or faster and see if it still does it, if it does, refuse the truck until they fix it.

What he said.

There were certain potholes I would hit in my 95 that would make the truck shake violently.

Its not low pressure, it was death wobble.

I would think a new truck would be tight enough to prevent it even with low tire pressure. I almost would have to say something is loose in the steering.

Thanks again. I just bit the bullit on a different DC at another dealer. I took the new ride over the same spot on interstate at 70, it did fine. I hope I made the right call. This will be my third DC, I hope I like it as well as the others. The other two gave me great service put over 100k on both. Was just a little gun shy after the episode with DW.

Thanks
