Help with Brakes?? Mayday Mayday!!!!!

When I pulled in the driveway last night from work and shut the truck off I saw smoke boiling out from under the right fender? Turns out my front caliper has gone bad and hung on the rodor!(No big deal I went to the parts house and got a new one one and installed it! We then bled the brakes several times and I still had none? I have since bled them 4 more times today and they are a little better but are still terrible? They were excellent before all this happened last night! After six or seven times bleeding them one would think all the air is gone...so now what? My brakes SUCK! No leaks coming from anywhere on the lines or at the master cylinder! What should I do next? Thanks in advance!

When you have the truck in gear, and hold the brake, does the petal sink?

With the heating you experienced (smoke coming out of the wheel well), the flexible brake line from the frame to the caliper could have been damaged and disloged some crud in the line. You may be able to bleed the air out but may have a restriction, thus causing your brakes to be weak.

I would suggest taking the caliper out and depress the piston to purge all remaining fluid then replace the flexible line with a new one, then bleed the brake again.

Thanks Guys! When the truck is in gear and I push the brakes they immediatly go to the floor and the ABS and Emergency brake light comes on? There is no sinking in the pedal! There is just no pedal! The fluid is coming out of all the lines very hard and fast like nothing is obstructing it! This is a major head scratcher!

Also, how did you go about bleeding the brakes? If you have 4 wheel ABS, it doesn't like the old pumping the brakes way of bleeding them as it messes with the proportioning valves. You might want to consider a power bleeder of some sort ( I use a Motive myself). They really do the job right.

Master cylinder leaking internally! JMHO
OH! yes! replace the other caliper. If one locks up, almost always the other will follow in a few weeks.

Be ware of cheap hydraulics. Go brand name. Also, make sure caliper moves freely on slides or it will pull & you'll think the caliper is sticking. Try bleeding at the master then moving to caliper. I've had times where I thought the air was out & it wasn't. Internal leak is possibility but don't misdiagnose.

Make sure you didn't get a caliper for the other side.
It will fit perfectly but the bleeder is on the bottom of the cylinder making it impossible to bleed.

What is the condition of the flex line to the caliper? If they got that hot it could have ruined the hose and when you step on the brakes the hose could just blow up a bubble.
Or the whole still have air in the system thing...ABS is so great....TO HATE!

Thanks to everyone for all the help! The valve has got to be on the top on both sides in order to get all the air out! The guys at the parts house had to be informed of this too, that these calipers will fit on either side but they are right and left specific in order to work properly! School of hard nocks... I always learn this way!
