Help! ABS pump?

I'm not sure what it is but the thing behind the underhood fuse block kept buzzing when I turned the truck off. I unplugged one of the conectors and it stopped. Now the ABS light is on in the dash and my speedometer doesn't work. If that is the ABS pump can I get one from a wrecked truck if it's a different year? Or are the conectors different?

I would explain the situation better but I'm using my piece of junk iPhone (ipaid too much phone!) and I hate typing on it. I'll try to explain things better when I get back home to my computer

Mine did the same thing. Its the ABS Computer Module. Leave that connection unplugged or else it will burn up that pump. I went to a local wrecking yard and got a pump/computer assembly for $150. Dodge sells the computer alone for almost $700 and the pump was outrageously priced also. Try a wrecking yard for a used one. Its worth the searching around cause they are expensive!!

This is for your 2001, right? I have an ABS computer for my 94, which I bought from a junk yard and haven't used. I know it works- I ran it for a little bit. Can you get a part number off yours?
I paid about $45 for mine.
Go on www.car-parts.com, and you can check the junkyards in your area, without doing the driving around.

Ok, thanks guys atleast I know what I'm lookin for. I just hope I don't have to spend too much money on it. Just last night my starter went out without warning 25 miles from home, it was a real PITA to get a new starter and all the tools needed to change one when you're that far from home. I keep basic tools in my truck but naturally I didn't have what I needed. Then less than 24 hours after I get that fixed the ABS fails on me. Not a very good weekend so far. But I'll get her fixed one way or another, thanks again guys

If I go to a wrecking yard to get one does it need to be from a 2500 diesel or are they the same in the half tons? I know my local wrecking yards pretty well and I know they don't have any 2500's just a couple of 1500's

Where is the ABS control (computer) unit located on a 98.5?
Is it the little electronics box on top of the abs control that has all the brake lines running out of it? And to be even clearer I'm speaking of the control in the right hand corner of the engine compartment.

IMO forget the dealer and junkyard. Both will have the same problem as the bad one in your truck. Electronics contracted to the lowest bidder. There are a handful of iffy components, but the most common is a relay in the ABS control unit that sticks on, making the pump run continuously. If you unplug just the motor, the speedo will still work, the pump will not run, and the abs/brake lights will be on. The ABS won't work, but the normal brakes will.

I sent my box in to "Module Master" and they replaced the troublesome components with higher quality parts for... I think it was like $130. I'll dig up their website.

There ya go. http://www.modulemaster.com/en/Dodge/index.php Give them a call. They fixed me up.

Oh, and the control unit sits on top of the running motor ABS motor. it comes off with torx screws. Module Master says you can run with it removed, but I was sketched about getting stuff in there while it was off, so I waited to send the module in till I was pulling my transmission.

PS here's their phone # 888-892-0764
