I have an 03 ctd, and it is throwing a code po628 "low voltage detected at the fuel lift pump". What could be the cause and how do I fix it before I loose my lift pump.

If your vehicle still has the stock cannister mounted lift pump,that code would suggest that the pump has weakened and /or failed. I recommend you replace the lift pump ASAP.

For an 03, which is what I have, my favorite pump for quality and ease of installation is the Raptor RP100 for stock or nearly stock, and the 150 for modified trucks. This is a very simple install on an 03(provided you haven't already have an in-tank done by a dealer). You can find it with a number of vendors, most notably right here on the dtr store! I've got a raptor 100 on mine and have had it there for 30k miles and it has been flawless.

...or... remove the failed (failing) stock pump, attach an adapter plate in its' place and do what many of us have done, hang a couple of Holleys' under the truck inline to push fuel up there. Search threads on the subject by myself and see for yourself. I've had mine for over 2 years now without any issue at all and it holds a solid 12-13 psi no matter the load.

I second vote for the raptor. Very easy install and works well. My truck threw the exact same code. Better get it done asap before it leaves you stranded.
FYI if you are ever stranded and it wont start gently give your old pump on the canister a tap with a wrench or something and she may work enough to get you home.
