Hellwig sway bar install

I was going to install the swar bar, but the passenger side brake line is in the way. I cannot mount the bracket to the axle tube without crushing it. It looks like I would have to move the brake line pretty far to clear the bracket. I'm not sure I can move it far enough. Anyone else encounter this problem?

Can I move the brake line without bending it? There is a clip on the axle tube that keeps the line in place. How do I get the brake line out of the clip?

I hope someone can give me some advice. Thanks!

Hellwig Sway Bar

I installed mine last night. Could of used two sets of hands to hold the u-bolt, saddle clamp, and sway bar up to get the nuts started but I managed ok - and didn't drop the sway bar on my face... With mine, I had to pull the brake line up a little bit to clear the top of the saddle clamp, but I had enough clearance where the axle & saddle clamp met.

Not sure, but you should be able to put a screwdriver in that brake line axle clamp and open it a bit to slide the brake line over a hair.

NOTE - I found it made things much easier to get to & align if you go ahead and remove the spare tire.

Can you post a picture of the clamp & brake line?

Hellwig

One side of the saddle bracket goes on the axle and the other side goes on the center hump (punkin) casting.

Saw your pics.
Looks good. I've been thinking of putting one on.

I had to un-clamp the brake line on the passenger side and couldn't bend the brake line enough around the axle clamp without putting a crimp in the line, so I used two large plastic pull tie to hold the brake line to the axle.

Thanks for the pictures. It really helps. I'm not sure I can bend or move the brake line far enough without removing the clip (passenger side).

AlCorr,
How did you unclip the brake line? Did you install the mag-hytec before or after installing the sway bar? I can't really tell by your picture, but can you install the diff cover after the sway bar is in place?

I found it easier to put on the frame clamps and drop threaded rod first. Then hook the sway bar to the drop threaded rod. Then lift the sway bar and hook it into the axle saddles. Follow those instructions but leave everything loose until all hardware is connected. Then tighten each a little at a time resetting and aligning until everything is good and tight.
