hello from Rye, NY
I'm on several boating and diesel truck forums, all under the same user name.
My daily driver is a 1985 Benz 300TDT diesel wagon and she's very functional Monday through Friday. But she's also got 250K on the odo and some serious rust from New England winters. She's a good highway cruiser but she can't tow my 4,500# boat. That's why I've been looking for a 90s vintage diesel pickup, and based on my research the first-gen Cummins would be the best truck for me. I like the six-cylinder design's fuel economy and the auto tx is robust (would prefer the Getrag 5 speed for towing, but these trucks seem rare!)
I'm 49 so my interest lies in stock trucks. Don't need to hotrod it, lift it or produce smoke, so I know I'm a misfit in these forums which seem to be dominated by younger guys who want to heavily mod their vehicles.
Looking forward to learning from you all.

Hey SORTIE, welcome to the site! Don't worry about being stock, it's like getting gas after eating.........it'll pass. There are allot of really good folks in the first gen forum and there are allot of low buck, easy to do mods that will net you mileage and mild performance gains. Those in turn will make towing that boat much more enjoyable!

Thanks for the welcome...I'm all for cheap & easy mods to tweak towing performance but I have no interest in racing or jackrabbit starts from the line. In my old age I just ease my wagon around, only accelerate hard to join highway traffic.
