Heavy White Smoke????
Just got done with a Helix 2 cam install. Went to start truck and broke in cam no problems. If the truck is cold, when you start it it will BILLOW out heavy white smoke like its getting too much fuel. Is this from the cam cause that is the only thing we changed????? Truck is an 01 and still running the VP.

How can it be out of time? There was a keyway on the cam. It is very rich fuel smell when it starts so im thinking its a copper washer bleeding down.

I am not familliar with the 24 valves, but the heavy white smoke indicates timing. How does it run? Have you tried to drive it? I understand the cam is keyed, but it very well have been put in off, and the valve adjustment to an off cam placement will only compound things. Better check your cam timing.

It's hard to tell on a cold engine. When my M4s haze in a bitter cold start, it sure looks white to me.
The timing could definitely be off. Are you certain that the cam isn't off a tooth or two? If you have radically retarded cam timing, you'll be closing the intake valves way late, which means you'll have much lower cylinder pressure and less air at the time of injection, at least at low RPM.
If this is severe enough, this would cause a white smoke because it won't even get hot enough to turn the fuel to soot.
Does it go away when the engine is warm, or greatly reduce?
If so, I highly suspect your cam is retarded by a tooth or more. Another clue to a retarded cam is if it pulls to higher RPM than it really should or feels soft on the bottom.

Keyway doesn't matter - still have to align the "O"s & "OO"s... 36/72 crank/cam teeth I bet your timing is off 10 degrees, and make sure the IP is phased correctly.
