heavy acceleration with TC locked up, good or bad?

Ive got a DTT trans in my ram that I had installed a few months ago. A couple of times when I had my foot in it, something would happen and the power would really get down to the ground and you could hear that motor working instead of just revving. After awhile I figured out somehow it got stuck in lockup longer than normal (usually if you accelerate too much it jumps out of lockup).
Ive heard about folks mounting a switch to a couple of leads on the PCM to force TC lockup and Im wondering how much wear this incurs on the torque convertor front cover and clutch? Anyone here thats been doing this for awhile with good or bad results? I do have the billet drum / input shaft as well as the DTT convertor, so warpage and shafts breaking shouldnt be as likely.
Im only making about 330hp at this point Id guess, but in the future Im going to be looking for 500 to 600hp.

Depends?
Best bet is to contact the installer or DTT directly for their opinion.

You should be fine with a lockup switch if you have a DTT tranny, and a billet input. I am running probably around the same power you are on a stock tranny with a Goerend TC and VB, and havent broken a shaft or hurt anything yet with my lockup switch, and I use it all the time. Im with you. The TC shouldnt unlock under WOT, but if i roll into mine with the overdrive off it will unlock when i really start gettin on it if I dont have the lockup switch flipped. With the lockup switch you can really make them put the power to the ground. You will have to get used to when you need to use the switch though.

Agree with what Eric says!
According to Stephen at DTT, Heavy acceleration... with rpms up over 1700, is only time to use a lock up switch... or to be locked up when on the throttle! That's on a 24v....12v may be different #'s.
The point is... you will only hurt the tranny if locked up while lugging the engine.
