heater fan issues
The other day i went out to start my pickup before work to warm up a little. When i get back out side and get in my pickup i notice the heater fan wasnt blowing any air, so i turned the switch from the third position to high and it started to blow. The only position i have any fan is high where as the previous day all four positions worked. Is there a fuse for the first three switch positions like there is on some trucks or did my resistor block burn up (which would probably mean bad fan motor also) and if that is the case how big of a project is it to replace?

Probably the resistor pack. Power runs through it for the lower speeds.
Never had to do one on my Dodge, so perhaps someone else will chime in, they need to be in air flow, so best guess would be somewhere on the heater housing, should be oblong with 2 scres holding it and a plug in.

at that point i decided the fan motor was the problem.
so i pulled the fan out and WOW! i coud tell the bearings on the motor were starting to freeze up..... the extra amp load to turn the motor was burning out the resistor pack.
i bought a new fan motor from e bay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=
and a new resistor from http://www.wholesalemopar.com/?iorb=4764
i checked out the one that NAPA has and it's a cheap generic motor , it doesn't have the electrical plug, just two wires...... the one i got is made in the orient but it works well, a little louder but at least i have heat
three bolts to remove the motor.
two phillips head screws for the resistor... both motor and resistor are in the same area ( right under the glove compartment)

Well looks like ill have something to do one of these days after work then.At least it doesnt sound like its a huge undertaking to get it done. id rather be under the hood than under the glove compartment any day.

it's actually pretty easy, lay on your back and you can see both the fan and resistor...i unbolted them before un hooking the wires ( easier to release the connector)

just replaced mine saturday. i was dissapointed in the quality of the replacement it had a light duty motor compared to the factory one. also had to cut the plug of the old one and wire it to the new one.

sounds like you got one from napa, napa doesn't list one for ac equipped trucks... that's the reason i didn't get one from them

it was a local parts plus retailer. if i have to replace it again im definitly going to look at the motor before i pay for it. thats what you get for cheap aftermarket replacements.
