my truck didnt come with the heater cord...my question is ,where does it hook,or plug into?i havent even looked at it yet,but i dont see buying a cord,when you could make one up just as easily.i do electrical work for a living and paying somebody 20 to 40 bucks for a cord is completely ridiculous.......any help is appreciated,,,,,,,,,thanks,,bama

Ok...FNG question - I've heard that all the Cummins have a block heater...how do I comfirm that? What do they look like and where would they be located. Yes, I know I'm opening myself up for some riducule here, but how will I know if I don't ask right?

right side of the engine, behind the oil cooler/filter pad location. and i believe will have a plastic black cap over it. you can see it from under the truck if you look up between the oil filter and the intake air tube feeding the turbocharger

Not sure about making it - it has an unusual plug design incorporated into a 3/4" threaded fitting. Considering it can be bought at a Cummins shop for less than $15, I don't see how making one would be worth the hassle.

Real easy install - did it in ~ 15 minutes myself.

Anybody else notice the number of block heater related threads recently? .....and Dodge thought not including a cord was a good idea?

Seems it was for them, I assume most responses and posts spent the money to buy the cord and a lot probably at the dealer.

NAPA carries them. Part# 605-9710. 15 bucks, one store had it for 18.

Luckily, my Dodge dealer said it was on backorder so I did some searching here and found the Cummins part#. Less than $15 OTD. Less than 15 minutes installed.

Take your air tube loose at the turbo, it will be easier to see and install the cord, also a good time to take the turbo silencer off since you are there with a screwdriver anyway!!

If I have been reading these posts correctly, all third gen trucks up to and including 2003 had the heater and cord from the factory, correct? Its just the 04's and up that didn't necessarily have the factory cord?

I have contacted the local cummins dealer (Kenworth) here in Fenton MO, and they tell me that they cannot get this cord. They show the heater but they do not show the cord in their parts manual. Can you please, please, please give me the part number. My dodge dealer wants almost 50 bucks for this thing. I will be very appreciative if someone would post the part number so I can call and give them the part number at Kenworth.

The dealer is asking me if it is an ISB or a Regular cummins???? Please help. Truck is an 04 not the half.

I can only give you the MOPAR number and it is 05086737. This is for my 05, but I would think the number would be the same for all cummins
