Heater control problems

Well I'm having a problem with my heater controls. No matter what setting I have it on, I get most if not all of the air from the dash vents. I have been able to get it to give defrost and a little floor heat a couple of times. When I switch the controls I can hear the motors working. But I can hear one go for about 10 seconds most of the time.

Do I have the dreaded broken door problem, or do I have a bad switch?

Is there any way to test the switch?

Randy

I have the same problem, does anyone out there now what it could be. This seems like it is starting to become a common problem.

I just started having a similar problem on my 03. I thought if you could feel a change in fan speeds out the vents it wasn't the recirc door. I can't get mine to blow out anywhere other than the dash vents.

I was just out to start my truck and it seems to be working now. Does this mean it is an electrical problem, or a switch problem? It hasn't worked for two weeks and when i decide to look at it, it starts working again just to spite me. I don't plan on touching the *** for the rest of the winter, I may just leave it on half feet/defrost and hope it continues to work until it gets warmer.

Always a day late, and a dollar short.

I've got a noise under the dash, passenger side when I shut the fan off. Seems to take a little bit for it to shift from floor to vents. Sounds like a broken blend door.

I bet you anything that your ignition switch is going bad.

How do I know??
I have replaced mine 5 times and it needs a new one again!

A good way to test it is to try and tilt the column up or down and see if your wipers (or fan for my ac once) start working again.

Good luck.

Sounds like you have some debris on your fan. You can pull the fan out with 3 screws to check. You can also shine a flashlight up in the hole the fan was in to check your recirc door.
