Heads off my 05 engine failure...
For those that have heard me whine the past 10 months (lol) about my engine problems, got to look at the pistons and cylinder yesterday. For anyone interested in a little background here are a couple refresher links of the beginning problem. Not to mention have my engine warranty voided by Chrysler for no reason, and them not even talking with me until I wrote the Attorney General and Chrysler got a letter from them.
They did agree to pay half of the $9000 I spent putting the engine in, I glad for that much....but still feel it was a production failure(if you want to call it that), mechanic said as much after we pulled the heads off.
Sorry, no pics, I should have, but at that point it really didn't matter.lol

NO melted pistons, It was #1 and #6 that failed. #6 cylinder was streaked, but not grooved, and the #1 cylinder had one rather large groove, didn't measure it, but large enough that it needed fixed. The pistons were surprisingly in good shape, they had a nice spray pattern on them(which suggests to me that the corrosion on the outside of the injectors and the transfer tubes was the result from condensation sitting for 4 months in the winter).
So, that's the end of a long and painful story!
Puffs some black smoke, but I feel comfortable when 3 different diesel mechanics have seen it and says its fine.
Thanks for all how provided responses.

Why did they void the warranty?
It seems like they are willing to pay for half of everything but not all of it . I am liking that new Ford more and more.

Initially, no reciepts, after the AG letter, fuel contamination, which that can't prove.....I was looking for another ride, and wasn't thinking dodge, but we'll see how this next engine lasts.
