head studs

when some one tells u to get head studs, what dose that mean, get more, bigger, or what.. i know this is probley a dumb question but ill never know if i dont ask..thanks

also SILENCER RING MIA... is that the little ring in the inlet of the turbo that can take out with a small screw driver

thats it. theres the snap ring, pop that out, and then there is a round disk looking thing with a huge hole in the middle of it. take it all out and your silnecer ring free

fill in ur sig. then we can tell u if u need studs or not. In my opinion, if you dont know what they are and you also have the stock turbo with the silencer ring...u dont need studs

The head is held on from the factory by bolts that thread into the block through the top of the head. Head studs replace the bolts. They are threaded on both ends and thread into the block and the then a nut is applied to the top threads to hold the head in place. This gives better clamping force and they are made of stronger material as well. The purpose is to eliminate the factory bolts from stretching under high cylinder pressure causing the head gasket to blow.
