hey all here soon i will be installing a new stock hg with 12mm studs i was hopeing someone could kinda give me the basic steps in removeing the head and is there any speical tools needed for this job and with the stock hg how much boost will it hol up to???thinks mike..

A few simple suggestions. First, located the temp sending unit. The 12 valve is kinda hidden and has a tendancy to hang up because the wiring harness is still attached. You will need to remove the injectors since they protrude below the surface of the head. This will protect the tips from damage.
You will either need a cherry picker or an extra set of hands to get the head safely out of the truck. It is rather heavy.

Other than that, it should be straight forward.

Remove wiper cowl and remove wiper assemebly to get the 4 rods on #5/6 cylinder. Remove fuel lines, remove injectors, valve covers, turbo (if you want).

thinks for the advice how much boost do u think i will safely be able to run??

This is not really necessary (at least on mine it wasn't). There are two rubber plugs underneath the wiper cowl that can be removed. This will allow you to get 3 out of 4 of the stated rods out. The last will almost come out. You need to take a pliers and tweak the sheet metal up inside the wiper cowl to gain a hair more clearance and the final rod should come out.

there is a fuel return line on the back side of the head that you cant see.
