Head Lt. switch ?

Yesterday afternoon on way home from plowing something started to stink..plastic caustic..sort of electrical...not all that bad but...was different.
Then some one flashed their Lts. at me and I realized mine were not on..oh they were on but not operating
So..The rest work OK and if I hold the High beams with the lever they come on.
So I suspect the Lt. switch ??
How hard is that to replace ?

Not hard at all. Me and my dad changed it in about 15 minutes. The new switch at O' reilly's was $75. You will have to wire in the new switch but all the wires are color coded so it isnt hard at all.

dash comes out with the ashtray and cupholder screws out, tilt wheel all the way down, and move the gear selector into low , then just pull back on the bezel, remeber to unplug the lighter andaux plug

All of the above , you can buy a replacement from Napa & whats called a pig tail [ the melted connector ] .
The up grade is putting relays at the headlites , between batteries , even stock they had a rep. for melting , then if you add any thing its worse .
Use the search function , I do not have all the details .

Thanks a bunch,
Being I am here in Juneau the Dog dealer did not have a part on hand,
Neither did Bellingham !
That tells me ...??? .... I dono maybe they never herd of the problem..don't recognize the problem... or SOLD OUT cause it is an other DOG problem !
Where in the crap did Dog get their underachieving engimneers from?
After looking at your fix I understand why these switches melt
I still stand by this - Let the big 3 go away and some world market will bring us a GREAT pick up TRK !
I am tired of making excuses for this PC of crap ! (American or not ! )

Bad mouthing DODGE will not fix your problem. More than likely it is caused from something YOU did to the headlight circuit when you wired in the lights for your plow. I've never had a problem with mine and I do a LOT of night driving. Earlier models did have an issue that was addressed with a repair kit. When you modded your system you overloaded it or did a poor job of wiring, either way it has nothing to do with Dodge engineering.

WOW !
You Accuse me with out knowing any FACTS ? !!! !! !!!!!!!! !
The wiring for a Fisher Snow Plow is Plug and play ! No splice ! Top Of the Line. !! !
On top of that if I may say so... I have called 6 different dealer ships and they are all out of these because of their shoddy workman ship. NOT mine.
On top of that doing a search here on this board ( and others ) This IS a real common problem , Plow or NO plow
IF you want to stick up for a co. that makes a Trk that Dumps $1500.00 V.P. Pumps, lift pumps that die as fast as bugs hitting you windshield,, steer boxes that fall off, track arms that were built for a model T, Wheel bearings that should have been on a Fiat, A 4WD system that is vacuum operated that sucks and WILL fail when you need it the most...
Brakes that should have been on a GoKart
Go Ahead, make my day, stick up for it.
A New Venture Transmission that has been a bad Venture for for most.
A Automatic trans that automatically fails.
A Engine that comes with plastic oil cooling jets,
A oil vent system that works like a Old.. Harley Davidson, dripping all over the place
A list of T.S.B. that out do a space shuttle ( Look them up )
Don'T get me started. - LOL
But don't blame me for a Head Lt switch going bad sir, no sir, you do not know the facts. You are uninformed. SIR!
I stand by my comment, When the World market imports a 1 ton we will get a good ONE !
Why do you think Detroit is floundering...?.. Because they make a great car ?? Most of us know better

Mature enough? I guess not.

You have a light duty pick-up with after market equipment. Suck it up.
