he351ve rebuild info???

hey everyone.....by any chance does anyone have a recommendation for a place to buy a rebuild kit for the he351ve vgt? someone told me to use the reg hx35/40 kits, but i want to make sure....thanks

would a low miles used one work ? bits and pieces can be had all over ebay.

for the price of the rebuild kit alone, you could get a good used one off ebay. And unless you have the means and procedure to properly realign the VGT slide after taking it out I wouldn't even try it if I were you. (there are special gauge pins to get the slide realigned inside the turbine housing appropriately, but those only work right if you index the driver gear properly after reinstalling it)

oh i have completely disassembled it already (pics here-->http://photobucket.com/evil06sti) ....and its pretty straight forward.... i just want to know if it uses the same bearing kit as the hx35/40......

You didn't bead blast the turbine wheels I hope. The one in the picture looks like it had been when cleaned up, hopefully its an optical illusion.

oh no no !!! nothing was bead blasted...... i just used a small piece of scotch-brite to wipe off the soot......every thing else was wiped with a towel.....

cause i bought it used and id just like having the piece of mind knowing the internals are fresh......its just more of a precaution

i googled "HE351ve rebuild" and found this little bit of info. dont know if it is accurate or not.

best part about this turbo is.. its VGT yes.. but it uses the same rebuild kit as a hx35/hx40 and uses the same turbine wheel as a hx35 on the cold side

So some of the parts from the HX35/40 do seem interchangeable with the HE351ve, although if you need spare parts you can find a HE351ve on ebay for cheap and a HE351 for even cheaper. keep us informed on progress and pictures are always a plus
