Has it grown on you yet?

Remember when the 3rd gen came out and more than a few said the new body style would have to "grow on them". Well has it? I did not like it too much at first but now after seeing them for awhile, I'd buy one, but I do not want the payment though. Just curious to know what you guys think.

I'm liking the "New" body style more and more each time I see it. ;D
I'm liking the new trans and higher output even more.

Just can't see starting over again. [undecided]
If something happened to my '99, I'd get a new HO/Auto sport in a heartbeat.

Ed

When the new body style came out in 2002 I wasn't to thrilled. Then test driving a 2002 2500 HO QC against the new 2003 HO there was no comparison. The 2003 was the only choice for me!

MikeyB

Re:Has it grown on you yet?

I like mine more and more all the time. I too did not care for it much when they first came out but maybe it's because they were only half-trucks, oops, I mean half-tons. When they started putting those big rims on them I started to like them more. One bad thing about the new larger grill is that so many bugs make it through to the condenser and radiator. I even had some bugs make it to my firewall!! As far as power, the HO is great but my SO has much more power than my 98 did even with the EZ box. I don't even think I'm gonna bomb this one!

Re:Has it grown on you yet?

Haha Same boat, ex gf loved my truck the new ones came out and im like when they come out with the diesels i think ill just get one of those instead of a 2000ish like i was lookin at and shes like those are fugin ugly and i had to go with her, Lil too big in the front but like said they grow on ya, overall nicer trucks. And the HDs look pretty good. Problem is the trucks gonna get lifted again and im not sure if i can see one of these lifted 20 inches..... well see

Re:Has it grown on you yet?

I did not like the looks of the 3rd gen. when they first came out as 1/2 tons. I too, thought "It will grow on me". When I bought my '02 2500, I test drove an '02 1/2 ton with every goody offered by D/C (SLT+). As you can see by my sig. I have the diesel, less a few of the nicer amenities that the '02 1/2 ton had. Am I glad? I have had it a year now and you still can't wipe the smile off my face when I start it up. Do I wish I had waited until the '03 HDs hit the lots? No. I love my truck. Has the 3rd gen. look grown on me? Yes it has, in HD trim at least. Will I replace my 2nd gen. with a 3rd gen? No, hopefully by the time I need to replace my truck, the 4th or 5th gens will be out.

Re:Has it grown on you yet?

Prefer the "pig snout" front end on the 3rd gen. Prefer the back end view on the 2nd gen. Really hated the looks of the 1st gen all around (even though I had one).

One man's opinion.

Re:Has it grown on you yet?

Well at first I was not to sure of the new body style but now I really like them. I went a test drove one a few months ago and really liked it. I just did not like how it sounds. You can hardly hear it. But I am going to wait until I finish college and by that time I should have about 400k on my current truck and then by a brand new one. Plus I want to she how everything holds up. So far looks like a great truck so far. I want to see how a few hold up after 100k miles. I am sure someone like big black dodge or someone will buy a new one and run a ton of miles. I was thinking of a 24 valve diesel but the vp-44 made me change my mind. So we share see what happens. -Anthony

Re:Has it grown on you yet?

When the 1500s came out, the first though I had was that front end was real sweet, kind of like an old Anteater. But the rest of the truck, including the body line on the box looked ugly as sin

When I saw pics of new heavy duties, I was still ambivalent. I decided I was going to hold onto my 01, and continue on with the stacks and sleeper plan.

Until I saw a picture of a reg cab 3500 duallie in black. I ordered my truck that very same day. I don't think that Dodge has built a better looking truck in the past 30 years.

And thats just a bonus to the rest of the package. Superior handling, braking, power, and injection system are the real meat of the 03 package.

Rod
