I think I may be having issues with the FCA (still not confirmed) turuc has been in the shop three weeks now. Truck towed into DC and they changed one injector. Truck started, drove 10 blocks and would not start again. Towed back to DC replaced the remaining 5 injectors. Still would not start. DC replaced the CP3 injection pump and still will not start. The pump is getting adequate pressure on the inlet side of the pump and the outlet (high pressure side) is too low to actuate the injectors. I think it is an electrical issue. The tech and service manager have no idea what to do next and are waiting on advise from tech-line. I know that this is an old post but I hope that someone who has had some experience with a similar condition will reply.

Fca symptoms: hard starting, start then die, rough idle, idle surge. Can be some or all of those. I had all on my 03 2500 heavy duty Ram. A $15 eBay replacement took care all. Start up immediately and smooth idle. Why ******* or auto part selling for over $100 dollars is beyond me!!!!
Replacement is a piece of cake when you do on the side after removing the tire and cover. Be very careful on those torx bolts or you will cuss when they strip. T25 to be exact!

Fps. I never had one failed yet on my truck with over 200k miles. I hook up to a tester that I also use as a gauge to monitor high pressure at the fps permanently. 90%of the time it is the fca not fps.

I would not do the fuel high pressure test never! Danger from high pressure leaking and a mess smelling are not my thing. Get the electronic signal at the fps is the way to go.

I bought the fuel pressure tester on eBay for under $50. It will do all major diesel common rail in existence. Bosh, ND and Delphi. It also simulates the fps signal too. Bargain and a great investment tool. Last time I had injectors failure I was frustrated as hell to isolate the problem because lack of test equipment. I ended up paying this guy with his fancy Snap on to just check the high pressure for me. I said the hell with that for what I paid him it is cheaper and faster to buy my own so I will never rely on some one else and paid for it!
