Hard to start - Lift Pump?
so lately the truck takes about five to six seconds to start up after its warm already but if it has been sitting for a few hours it pops right off after one or two seconds. My guess is either the lift pump or injectors but i'm leaning towards lift pump cause I think its original and theres 120,000 miles on it. Is there a way to find out if the lift pump is going bad? I don't have any aftermarket gauges so I don't know what the pressure is. when I have the hood open and turn the key to run but not start, the lp makes a lot of noise so I think its going bad. I want to replace it with either a FASS or Airdog pump if it is bad. Where is a good place to get one of these units? Anyone know a good place in minnesota? Thanks

DTR's 'Go to Guy'
Anything you want to purchase con be bought from Lary at the DTR store! See my sig for a link! Check for codes #1 - turn the key from off to on 3 times ( not cranking ) ending in the on position and codes will read out in the odometer screen. #2 If you think it is the lift pump.....get a fuel pressure guage. Numerous ones available, but a cheap guage and a pressure tap lid would be an easy test. I can't say for sure that Lary has those, but I know Geno's does. Start there. Way too many possibilities to just start throwing parts at your truck. That gets expensive really quick! You could be right on the injectors too, but I haven't heard of a lot of them dying on the early 3rd gens....most of them are 04.5's and up.
