hanging breather tube?

Hi! While washing my truck I noticed a 3/8" hose dangling down. It is about 18 " in length and is capped on one end and attahes to the top of the front diff. There is also a clip on the capped end that attaches to SOMEWHERE? Does anyone know where this attaches? I have pulled it around looking for where it attaches with no success?

the breather tube for the front diff should attach somewhere in the engine bay. most breather tubes ive seen attach somewhere near the radiator... or along the fire wall
