Maybe I'm being stoopid - feel free to say so, but I have to ask...
A recent post on this page referenced the benefits of water injection for cleaning carbon out of the head, and potential for clearing injector issues (carboned tips, I assume). This makes sense - I have used water in gasser intakes for this express purpose, and it works well.
My question: Would it be worth the cost and effort to install a base H2O injection kit to just run it occasionally to clean the head and injector tips? Seems to me that if this works, it might be a good option for those that don't superheat their CTD's by regular heavy towing/hauling.
I've done some search research on this, and have seen the effect mentioned - just can't figger if the benefit is worth the cost, or any risks involved.

I want to put water injection in for the same reason. I know in the shop when the old 350's would start knocking, I would put a air powered siphon gun in a gal. jug of water and spray in in the throttle body. 5 min. of water fog and they stopped knocking.

In the spring, I tore down a customers Series 60 and he ran Lucas fuel treatment religiously. He had a little over 900k on the engine and the piston tops were extremely clean and hardly no deposits on the edges of the valves. I went out of my way to get his cell number and call him to see what was used to keep the engine so clean.

There are alternatives to water injection to keep carbon off. I still want to hook up water injection for the performance benefit.

there is a post some where from i think don m or john from floor it stating that a mild water injection system is one of the best things you can do on a 3rd gen...
that was all it took to push me over the edge and buy one.

What kind of performance gains can one see from such injection? What are some good brands of water/meth injection.

I read somebody's post a while back that said that they have seen a lot of people ( I think he mentioned 2,3 or 4 engines) who had rust in intakes runners, like where the bolts are in intake I believe. Anybody else heard or seen this or this a urban myth?
I just use my truck for running around mainly. I really never heat it up (and I idle it a lot) so (if the rust is BS) sounds like it wouild be good for someone who uses their truck like me.

if you dont heat it up, its not for you.
personaly i wouldnt even concider it unless fully up to operating temps, with time to burn off any left over.

I did a ton of research before I went the route I did. Keep reading and judge for yourself. Snow is the biggest. Cooling mist not far behind. Are they the best? I don't know. What I do know is that my setup was less money, used the same or better parts and works well. It's progressive and as mild or powerful as you want it to be. DevilsOwn.
They do alot for the gasser crowd but have newer diesel stuff. Lot of Grand National and Blown Mustang/Camaro/Firebird guys run em'.

I second the DevilsOwn kit. That is what I run on the Cobalt SS/SC and they are known for their superior parts and workmanship in the tuner crowd. Once you have it set, all you have to do is top off the tank.

I also run the Devils own kit and dollar for dollar it is the best. As far as performance goes, it is not like nitrous or propane the main thing it does is lower egt's so one can run a lot of fueling. Some say 50-100 hp but I am not so sure about that. I don't know about the carbon thing for sure. I have heard the rumors that it does remove some. In my experience after running H2O injection heavy like at the track throttle responce is better down low even with it turned off. So it may have some "cleaning" properties.

i have been thinking about going to h20/meth inj to cool egts. I have done everything i know of to lower them except new turbo.
