Guages: The 2 week saga.

Finally got around to ordering my guages.

Got ahold of Rod at Wildcat Diesel on Tuesday March 30th and picked 4 guages.

EGT, Boost (0-60, just in case ), tranny temp and fuel pressure.

I originally wanted to go with Autometer Ultralites, the ones I've seen match the factory guages pretty good.
Rod really likes the Isspro EVA's and talked me into getting them, saying they matched the factory ones pretty good as well.
And he has had results with them as well.

Also ordered 3 guage A-pillar with tweeter hole.
Extra mounting cup for the 4th guage.

All needed hardware as well.

Rod said "aboot" 7 days for delivery.

Called Baker's Diesel in Ogden Utah to make an apointment to have them installed on Wednesday April 14th, I put in a request to have that week off work last December in anticipation.
I don't have the tools or the talent to tackle this myself.
I also want a nice professional install, things I do myself usually end up a little "booty fab" in appearance , that date will also give a little extra time in case anything gets hung up in transport.
Asked Jason about the Dodge tranny line that has the built in temp port and they said they could get that and have it there for my appointment.
Jason also said the had the paint for the A-pillar to match my Agate intereror as well, and could spray it when I got there, and it would be dry by the time they were ready to put the guages in.
I'll ask them if I can hang out in the shop to watch the install, maybe take pics, I'll even be willing to sign a waiver for insurance purposes.

Got home from work last night and saw that a big box from Isspro was delivered.
Inside was the boost guage and tubing, EGT guage and thermocouple, tranny temp guage and the extra mounting cup.
Yup, they do match the factory guages pretty good.
Box came directly from Isspro in Portland Oregon.

I hope I'm correct in assuming the other stuff is coming from somewhere else and will be here next week.
Rod did mention he has someone in the states that stocks and ships stuff down here.
Kinda worried about the Fuel pressure guage, as the invoice had a bit "0" next to it, but no mention of backorder or anything.
Maybe I'll call Rod on Monday.

Well, I'll update this thread as things progress.

Congrats on your new gauges! IMO, if I can install the pyro and trans temp, anybody can. Now don't almost go in the ditch your first day watching your pyro fluctuate, you'll look like a drunk driver!

From the looks of it, now all you have left is an Edge Comp., Injectors, Exhaust, and the 12K winch (If you don't want the winch, I'll take it off your hands, but make it a M15,000 )

Don't have them installed yet, that's the 2 week saga.

All the parts haven't arrived yet either, but I'm sure they will in time for install day (4-14)
Will update as they arrive.

Ran out of Tax Refund money before I got the winch, but I should have it by mid May.

Transmission next (when money allows) then the go fast goodies.

2 week saga????

I finally got all my gauges in after 5 weeks of ordering, shipping, forgotten boost gauge, and some other forgotten hardware!! I'm not gonna name names, but I know not all of this was "this persons" fault.

Now let the installing begin!!! (well here in the morning)

Gauge suppliers suck.

Phox, when your gauges shipped, I was waiting for a large shipment from IssPro to arrive. When I found out when it was going to get into the warehouse (not in time for you), I called IssPro and had them drop ship to you, except the fuel pressure line, which left from my warehouse.

When I called IssPro, I found out that the fuel pressure gauges were on back order until the middle of April But I called a few places and tracked one down for you, so everything should be on your doorstep by the end of the week.

Good luck with the install

Just a quick question, how are you going to get 4 guages on the A-pillar? Where does that single guage go?

Thank you very much for the quick followup, and the extra "legwork"

I've heard very good things about Jason from Baker's.
And the fact they've been around for a while.

Not sure where Gillette is (Draper or Riverton I think),
I stumbled on Wide Open by accident the other day, and it is almost within walking distance from my house.
(well, maybe a short bicycle ride)

They both seem to be more Ford oriented, which isn't a bad thing,
but don't have the Dodge Diesel experience that Baker's does.
I bet I'm paying a little more going with Baker's.

Helpful hint...one that drove me crazy for hours... wether you do the install or someone else, be sure to tighten the cap nut on the shut off valve! I didnlt notice it was loose...took me 4 hours wrestling with the whoel thing trying to sort out where the leak was coming from.... needless to say I took al the fittings apart 3-4 times, using thread sealer each time, last time i used the Mopar RED RTV (on the threads, and that sealed then up great...but still a leak....finally when turning off the shut off valve one more time...thats when i noticed the leak was at the T-handle...felt really stupid afterwards for not checking it first time through Other than that...one day install.

Gillett is in bluffdale, and i wouldn't say that being ford oriented is an accurate statement. But hey maybe you should go check out the place and see what you think. Maybe you should do a dyno runn so you can have a baseline to show off to your friends how much more power you'll have after injectors and a comp.

I was assuming.
We all know what assume means.
I since found their website so I have their address now.
(They do have a Ford for their wallpaper, and not a lot of other info)

I've dynod twice stock.
Once at Phantom Motorsports in Sandy/Midvale
(on the border, not sure which town claims them, a ricer shop)
and once at Edge in Ogden.

Don't have my numbers handy, but Phantom was higher than Edge, different Dyno, between 190 and 205ish HP.

Truth be told, I had forgotten completely about Gillette when I was considering where to have them installed.
I'll try to keep them in mind when it comes time for future Bomb's.
