Gsk?
Time to admit my ignorance. What is a GSK? I know it's something that can be a pain to install, requires care not to drop parts into the engine while installing, takes about two hours to install if nothing is dropped, has twelve springs, comes in 3K and 4K variations, and increases power. But what is it?
Thanks for alleviating my curiousity and ignorance.

if you go with the 4k(4000rmp) or the 5k(5000rpm) you have to change the valve springs to HD(60psi) springs.
the 5k gsk is normaly only used in race trucks and takes a more engine work

Thanks. Very interesting. The information leads to other questions. Does moving the AFC forward affect the de-fueling point of the governor? Or does that affect another part of the fuel managment system? And, does installing a 3k GSK affect fuel mileage under normal driving? I ask because after moving my AFC forward the engine willingly revs to 3000 rpm when it used to reach only 2500 - 2600 rpm, and the mileage appears to have suffered somewhat when cruising down the road with no load on the truck.

I can't comment on milage, as I owned my truck 5 days, and then did all the mods in my sig...
But the AFC is low boos fueling, off idle till about 6psi. It increases resposiveness, and smoke.

ok, newbie question warning...
since this thread is up...this is my first diesel and first auto. do the GSK's change your shift points as well? mine truck shifts around 2000-2500 when i am on it right now. is this because it's defueling at 2200? so with the 3k, i will be shifting at 3000? or just have fuel until then and take care of my shift points on my own?
