Grid Heater Cycling Question

I understand the grid heater operation and the dimming of the lights and blower speed when starting truck cold but I noticed tonight after driving about 40 minutes on the interstate then got off exit and made a stop then restarted truck, no glow light as normal, but as I was idling the lights and blower cycling occured but engine was warm, outside temp was in the 30's is this normal.?????
I thought if the engine was warm the post start cycle wouldn't have to occur, maybe normal but never noticed it.

My truck does the same thing if I restart the truck immediately after shutting down the engine, even when it is at operating temperature. If I wait awhile before restarting it does not do this. How much time it needs before it will not do this, I don't know, haven't experimented.

Yep normal... I know it seems odd... but it uses more than coolant temp, it also uses air temp from the MAP and , I think, the sensor in the air box...

THANK GUYS!!!
It does seem odd that it does it, and yes to the one response, It was when I restarted it very soon after shutting it down. It has to look odd to people in front of me the way the headlights dim and all, they could almost think I'm flashing them, suprised I haven't gotten the "California Wave" back.
