greasing front driveshaft?

There's a sticker under my hood saying to grease the front driveshaft with MOPAR part number such-and-such lithium grease. I can't find any zerks. What gives?

Zerk

Zerk is on the middle U joint. There are 3 on the front drive shaft. Jack up the drivers side wheel and turn it untill you see a spot that looks like it was drilled into a bit. This isn't a standard grease zerk, it's a little depression with a ball in the middle. You'll have to scrap the paint off of it, and then use a needle tip to put the grease into. I grease it every other oil change (every 10k)

greasing front driveshaft

If one universal joint in the front drive shaft requires greasing then what about the other two U-joints? What about the U-joints on the drive shaft turning the rear differential? What about the U-joints at each front wheel and what about the ball joints? Sealed joints are fine for a few or maybe even several years, but then they eventually will needs some grease. At least on my 1987 D-50 Dodge Mitzibishi I was able to screw out plugs and screw in zerks to grease the top and bottom ball joints at both front wheels.

You know - I just looked in my 04 service manual - it doesn't mention anything about lubing the drive shafts - only greasing the outer tie rod ends. Is this a change from the 04s to the 05s and 06s? I couldn't find any kind of place to lube the shafts - but I only glanced at 'em. Is this something that should be done on the 04s as well?

Greasing Drive Shaft

You grease the middle zerk on the front drive shaft. This lubricates both the middle and end u joint (near the transfer case) you do this because it's a CV joint that works at a much greater angle than the rear, so you need to put grease it in. (there's also a spring and ball and cup in there) so that's what you lubricate. I like zerks cause you can lube them after you run in mud, water, sand, ect, and push all the old stuff out a bit. Normally there's a sticker under the hood that says if you have it or not. Read the above post by me, they are very hard to find.
