Armed 85-Year-Old Makes Intruder Call 911
Teen Suspect In Custody

POINT MARION, Pa. -- A teenage burglary suspect is in custody after an elderly Pennsylvania woman boldly went for her gun,
then forced him to call police while she kept him in her sights.

Police said 85-year-old Leda Smith heard someone break into her home Monday afternoon.

She grabbed the .22-caliber revolver she had been keeping by her bed since a neighbor's home was burglarized recently.

Smith said she just walked right past the teen to the bedroom and got her gun.

After the 17-year-old called 911, Smith kept holding the gun on him until state police arrived at her home, about 45 miles south of Pittsburgh.

The teen will be charged with attempted burglary and related offenses in juvenile court.

Smith said she just hopes the incident stops burglaries in her neighborhood.

She did what the cops could not (no offense, Top and Big Boss Man, you guys can't be expected to be everywhere, and you got your hands full enough as it is), and that it to guarantee her own safety in her own home. The most fundemental freedom- personal security, courtesy of the Second Amendment.

I say it should not be a right to defend yourself. It should be every able body/minded persons responsibility to defend themselves and their loved ones. If more people thought like this lady these savages that prey on people would be out of business.

What I like most about this story is that she made the kid call the cops on himself. I'd love to hear that 911 tape! [laugh]

That is the way to Handle the situation. I live on 80 acres that i have set up with food plots for deer hunting and wildlife and every year i have trouble with trespasser's even with it being posted + barbed wire around the outside. Last year during bow season i caught a guy behind my house with a bow in his hand and an arrow knocked sneaking along my woods you should have seen the look on his face :owhen i took the bow from him and told him if he wanted it back to bring the cops and then we will talk about it ! Then i threw him out . The local CO thought that was pretty good too when he came out[laugh][laugh]

PPL have a lot of audacity.. We have poachers on our 18 acres from time to time but they use high power rifles so we don't chase em but if I ever get the drop on one I will do that.[verymad]
