Grand Cherokee Diesel

I heard that the 2013 Grand Cherokee will have a Diesel, I have been looking and have not seen any yet. Does anyone know if they are out yet or have seen some around. I would love to look at one and test drive one.

2014 Model will have it. It may be, from what Im being told, a late availability for the 2013 Models, production for spring 2013. It will be a VM Motari V6 diesel.

2013 is a limited production run time. No change from the 2012MY

Mom is currently waiting on her new Jeep to arrive at our dealer. Overland 4x2 in White with Black Leather interior. Gonna be a nice looking ride.

Was thinking about trading the wife's Durango on a GC, but, we need the third row seat, and decided to wait for the Grand Wagoneer re-release, 2014MY.

I heard the same. 2013 model year is a short run with the 2014's arriving in May 2013 ( and with the diesel).

x3 Yup they should becoming. Was at a dealer last Friday and he said they're planning on getting them in. I'd like to do a test drive and compare it to my ol' Wizard 3.1TD I had.

With the price of Diesel Fuel, its a wonder anything beside a truck is being sold with a diesel.

Somebody is going to have to change the diesel fuel pricing so more diesels can enter the market. In Florida Tax is $ 0.54 Cents per gallon. Gas is $ 0.38 cents per gallon. Diesel is now $3.99 to 4.02/ gallon down here.

Diesel has always been a commercial fuel and I feel thats the reason for the high tax as corporations can just write the price off as operating expense. So what about all of us that are not a company?

I don't know if this is related but when the price dropped down to $ 3.40's I noticed alot of stuff dropped in price at the Walmart in the food section. It took about 2 months to see it.

During the hurricane that sunk New Orleans, a refinery was damaged on the Mississippi River which produced mainly Diesel Fuel. The price jumped over
$ 3.00/ gallon. The truckers were making alott of noise about the price. Not far after that you did not hear anything more as they just charged the fuel to the load. Hence, price increases in everything carried by truck.

Nothing has changed.

My understanding is diesel tax is higher because heavy trucks that cause more wear and damage to the roads run on diesel.

About this time if I was looking to buy a new rig it would run on natural gas, it's the future.

2002 QC gasser 12mpg @ $3.50 per gal. costs $29.15 to travel 100 miles.

2006 QC diesel 17mpg @ $4.00 per gal. costs $23.52 to travel 100 miles.

That's my own personal experience.

Even at $3.24 for Gas and $4.03 for diesel, at 12mpg vs 16.2mpg the diesel is still is cheaper for fuel. I built a spread sheet and I constantly look at the numbers on this.
